How to download?
Except for the few working torrent links, all the fanedits are stored on file hosters, usually Rapidshare.com or Megaupload.com.
The small rar file you download from here contains an nfo file, which contains info on how to use jdownloader and the passwords (if needed) AND a DLC file.
The DLC file contains all the links for the fanedit that are stored on a file hoster. To use it, you need JDOWNLOADER.
So:
download the rar file --> open or extract it. Execute the DLC file after jdownloader is installed.

what is the PASSWORD?
Usually the passwords are already in the DLC file, but if not, these are the ones you should try:
fanedit.org (most common), fanedited.com

what do I do if a link is not working or somethign else is wrong?
write a REPORT about it .

what about the FILE SIZES?
Some RS files seem rather small or smaller than what the faneditor mentions for the size. This is usually caused by the rar compression.
Bigger files are usually caused by the existence of additional parfiles for file repair.

Should I shrink the DL DVDs?
No, but if you must, use DVD Rebuilder and not DVD shrink.

What is a DLC file?
A DLC file is a container for links from various filehosting services (Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc). To open it you need  jdownloader: http://jdownloader.org/. You can find more info here.

How do I unpack this?
Jdownloader can do the unpacking for you (if you told it to do that) and handles most formats.
RAR is most common and can be opened with winrar, 7zip, iArchiver (MAC), Stuffit (MAC) and many more. Start always with the first rar file (or with the only one named “.rar”.
HJsplit archives have a number only ending “.001, .002, etc”. You need HJSPLIT to unpack these archives. Download: http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/ for all OS with java, download: hjsplit_g.jar (137 Kb).
7zip files have an ending like this: “.zip.001, .zip.002″. You need 7zip to unpack these archives.

How to burn the DVDs?
Use the freeware program IMGBURN (PC).  You can use THIS GUIDE.
